This derives from its innovative city planning concept, developed by Secchi Viganò and the unique Bouwmeesters — politically independent architects hired by the state who organise new architectural developments with a strong emphasis on aesthetics and societal functions. We visit newly constructed buildings and meet architects and project managers. We create an overview of the city and of Flanders in order to understand pinpointed architectural strategies and philosophies.
