HAUS D
is a proposal for an extension of a house built in the 1970s. The main objective was to create a new shared space with a view of the alps. However, adding a floor would overshadow the existing architecture. Instead, Studio Skåtar suggested adding a similarly shaped element centrally on the building. The new white addition is clearly distinguishable, does not compete with the existing materials and contains a shared space connected to the kitchen area. Additionally, the design extends the existing garage as a new building stretching from the street to the house’s entrance. On top of it, there is a terrace from which the alps are visible.
