SERLACHIUS MUSEUM
was a competition for an extension of the existing museum, in Mänttä, Finland. Studio Skåtar focused on a strong communication between the park and the non-exhibition interiors. The proposal placed the three large exhibition halls, with north-faced roof lanterns, as islands within the park landscape. Their scale, as experienced from the exterior, is diverted by applying a 3m high and 3 meters wide pathway around them. From the pathway, the visitors can experience the park also in the harsh Finnish winter months. Type of project: extension to the existing building, competition entry. Location: Mänttä, Finland
